Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the relevance of the childfree phenomenon and the command to have children according to Genesis 1:28. Nowadays, the choice to live a childfree life is often questioned because it is considered contrary to God's command to have children. This phenomenon is becoming increasingly relevant along with social and cultural changes that influence individuals' views on marriage and family. This study uses a qualitative literature review method, by reviewing various sources such as books and articles that discuss this phenomenon. The results of the study show that the childfree trend has increased in recent years, where many individuals and couples choose not to have children for various reasons. In conclusion, those who choose a childfree lifestyle do not carry out God's commandments as written in Genesis 1:28. As believers, humans are called to do God's will, including contributing to "creating" a new generation according to His image and filling the earth according to His plan. Therefore, it is important for believers to understand the meaning of God's commandments more deeply and apply them in real life.
